Sanwo -Olu Flags -Off 540 – Metre Road Construction In Ijegun

Babajide Sanwo – Olu, Lagos Governor

In continuation of its infrastructural renewal across the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, flagged off the construction of a 540-metre Alhaji Jimoh Drive/Baptist Church Street in Ijagemo, Ijegun, Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The project which is being carried out through the Office of Rural Development, marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Sanwo-Olu administration to improve road connectivity and living standards in rural communities across the state especially in the Alimosho axis.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, speaking during the flag -off, disclosed that the project is scheduled for completion within six months. He added that it will be complemented with solar-powered streetlights to enhance road quality, visibility, and safety for residents.

He urged the Ijagemo Community to cooperate fully with the contractors to ensure timely completion of the project.

Dr Agbaje emphasised that the initiative is part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, which prioritises the transformation of rural areas into semi-urban settlements.

“This administration is committed to ensuring that every part of Lagos State enjoys the dividends of democracy.

The Alhaji Jimoh Drive/Baptist Church Street construction will not only ease movement but also stimulate economic growth in Ijegun and its environs,” Dr. Agbaje stated.

Also speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, described the project as a testament to Governor Sanwo-Olu’s capacity and sincerity in delivering on his promises to the grassroots.

She noted that the project underscores the government’s resolve to bring equitable development to all parts of Lagos State.

In his remarks, Dr. Yusuf Jimoh, a retired Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Audit Service Commission and Ministry of Special Duties, commended the Governor’s commitment to infrastructure development, stating that the Ijagemo people and community had long awaited such a transformative initiative.

Similarly, the APC Chairman of Iba LCDA, Alhaji Jamiu Oyetolu, lauded the state government and the Office of Rural Development for their proactive approach to community advancement, saying the office has continued to reach the nooks and crannies of the state with meaningful projects.

The Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Iba LCDA, Dr. Thomas Agbogunleri, expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Agbaje for his leadership and dedication in projecting the Governor’s developmental agenda across rural communities.

He assured the government of the community’s full support to ensure the project’s successful completion.

The flag-off event drew community leaders, political stakeholders, and residents who applauded the Lagos State Government’s continuous efforts in improving road networks and bringing governance closer to the people.
